Voyager Media Awards judging underway

Judges are now reviewing nearly 2000 entries to the 2019 Voyager Media Awards, from print and broadcast journalists, photographers, videographers, designers, artists, columnists and cartoonists.

Seventy judges based in nine countries are co-judging the 62 categories. Judging will be completed by early April and lists of finalists will be sent out as the results come in.

The full list will be available on in April.

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday, May 17 at Cordis, Auckland. Tickets will go on sale in March. MC James McOnie will once again be (almost) in charge of what can be an unpredictable evening.
Staged by the Newspaper Publishers’ Association with Voyager Internet as premier sponsor, the awards showcase the very best of the country’s newspapers, magazines, news websites, television and radio.

Awards director Jane Phare said it was obvious that entrants took enormous pride in their work and had put great effort into their entries. “In an industry that is not without its challenges it is encouraging to see how committed journalists and other entrants are to produce the best possible result, no matter what the circumstances.”
